Pennsylvania man shot to death on Market Street

NEWARK, NJ — The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday, Sept. 22, in the 600 block of Market Street in Newark, according to a press release from acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose.

At approximately 3:28 a.m., Alpha M. Dumbuya, 24, of West Hazleton, Pa., was shot. He was transported to Rutgers University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made.
