Two Newark residents arrested for receiving stolen auto

NEWARK, NJ — Varlee Goolsby, 27 and Dwight Peebles, 21, both residents of Newark, were arrested for receiving stolen property, an automobile that was reported stolen on Tuesday, Jan. 30.

On Thursday, Feb. 1, at approximately 1:45 p.m., an officer from the 5th Precinct was in the area of Shabazz High School, when she observed a vehicle in front of the school during a fire drill. The officer initiated a plate check of the vehicle, which revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen.

Ultimately both the driver Peebles and the passenger Goolsby were charged with receiving stolen property.
