IRVINGTON, NJ — Following the execution of a search warrant for her basement apartment, a female suspect was arrested on drug charges in Irvington by Essex County sheriff’s detectives and Bloomfield police officers on the afternoon of Thursday, Feb. 8.
Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that, as a result of the search at 356 Union Ave., the detectives seized 81 heroin-filled envelopes, stamped “Black Panther” in red ink and 26 plastic jugs which contained “crack” cocaine.
“The subject of our joint investigation, Yolanda Thomas, 48, was taken into custody without further incident at that time,” Fontoura said.
The street value of the narcotics is $1,100.
Thomas was charged with two counts each of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute within 1,000 of University Middle School, Irvington.
The suspect was lodged at the county jail, where she awaits a bail hearing.
