30-year-old Maplewood man killed in Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Jersey City police were dispatched to Woodlawn Avenue between Ocean and Garfield avenues in Jersey City at approximately 10:20 p.m. on Aug. 29 on a report of shots fired, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office. Upon arrival, police found an unresponsive male with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. The victim was later identified as Kyell C. Jeter, 30, of Maplewood; he was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 10:45 p.m.

No arrests have been made in connection with the homicide. The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
