IRVINGTON, NJ — Believer’s Love Fellowship Church in Irvington opened its soup kitchen, Cafe BLF — Believer’s Love Fellowship — to the community and managed to warm many hearts this year by hosting its annual Christmas Brunch, serving those who were in need of a hot meal, on Christmas, Wednesday, Dec. 25.
Part of the church’s outreach, the soup kitchen normally serves meals five days a week, Monday through Friday. On Christmas, Irvington residents were able to get their hands on warm comfort food, including baked macaroni and cheese, glazed ham with pineapple and pound cake for dessert.
The Christmas Brunch was a huge success, serving 24 Irvington residents a hot meal for the holiday and providing a gathering place that feels comfortable enough to call home.
Church pastor Ronda Butler gave thanks to all who made this event such a success.
“Thanks to all my cooks and helpers yesterday at our annual Cafe BLF Brunch,” said Butler in a quote sent to the Irvington Herald on Thursday, Dec. 26. “It was much fun and laughter, and we know the people enjoyed the food!”
Butler then offered a prayer from Matthew 25:40: “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of my brethren, ye have done it unto me,” she said. “We will continue to serve in every way possible in giving back to the community.”
