IRVINGTON, NJ — A story, “Recall effort against the mayor continues,” which appeared on the front page of the Irvington Herald in the Aug. 24, 2017, issue, was misleading. The text stated that a group of residents is currently collecting signatures to place a recall vote on Mayor Tony Vauss on the ballot in the upcoming November general election. That statement is false. Although such an effort was initiated in early 2016 and preliminary paperwork was filed with the Town Clerk’s Office, the petitioners did not collect the necessary signatures in the allotted time — by June 20, 2016 — and at that point the petition was declared null.
