MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Get ready to stop in Maplewood, as the Township Committee approved on final reading the addition of eight new stop signs at its Feb. 6 meeting.
The first stop sign will make Menzel Avenue a stop street at its intersection with Schaefer Road. The second stop sign will make Jacoby Street a stop street at its intersection with Schaefer Road. The third stop sign will make Hughes Street a stop street at its intersection with Schaefer Road. The fourth stop sign will make Schaefer Road a stop street at its intersection with Newark Way. The fifth stop sign will make Fernwood Road a stop street at its intersection with Woodside Road. The sixth stop sign will make Brookwood Road a stop street at its intersection with Woodside Road. The seventh stop sign will make Peachtree Road a stop street at its intersection with Woodside Road. And the eighth stop sign will make Laurel Avenue a stop street at its intersection with Brookwood Drive.
According to Public Works Director Calvin Bell, the new signs should be installed sometime in the end of February or beginning of March.
The need to order signage will cause a brief delay in installation,” Bell told the News-Record in a Feb. 13 email. “With the estimated delivery time, and the time for the mark-outs to be completed, I would estimate that they should be installed in approximately two weeks.”
