WEST ORANGE, NJ — The annual Edison Middle School honors breakfast on May 31 recognized 187 students for their exceptional academic accomplishments throughout the school year.

Students were recognized in three categories: 14 on the principal’s list, reserved for those achieving an “A” in all subjects in all semesters; 69 on the AB honor roll, reserved for students achieving a combination of principal’s list and honor roll with “A” and “B” grades in all semesters; and 104 on the honor roll, reserved for students achieving a combination of “A” and “B” grades in all semesters.

Students received medals denoting their recognition with a ribbon in the EMS school colors. Following the medal presentations, students were treated to a hot breakfast buffet by Sodexo. The event was organized by guidance counselors Pam Halstead and Jeff Lafoon, who decorated the gym with balloons and helped to distribute the medals.

“Think of the school year as a race,” Assistant Principal Steve Melendez said at the event. “You have worked hard all year and you have won that race.”
