WEST ORANGE, NJ — The fifth annual West Orange High School Fan Fest on Sept. 28 on the baseball field bubbled with school spirit as students and athletes gathered to support one another and connect with the community.

The West Orange boys’ soccer and girls’ volleyball teams both had home games during Fan Fest. The girls’ volleyball team fell 2-1 to Bloomfield, while the boys’ soccer team shut out Irvington 8-0.

“Today was a great team win,” boys’ soccer head coach Doug Nevins said. “Five different players scored and assisted on goals. It was great to score some goals and we hope to use this momentum moving forward.”

Over on the Fan Fest field, Principal Hayden Moore was generating plenty of enthusiasm himself as he visited the sports booths and chatted with students. Superintendent of Schools Jeffrey Rutzky stopped by to support the effort.

“This is a great high school with a lot of fantastic things happening,” he said.
