GR Women’s Club conducts virtual food collection 2016

GLEN RIDGE, NJ — The following release was submitted by the Women’s Club of Glen Ridge.

Once again this year, the Women’s Club of Glen Ridge is partnering with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey to run the Glen Ridge Virtual Food Drive.

Did you know that more than 1,000,000 people in New Jersey don’t always have enough to eat, and that almost 900,000 of them rely on food banks to supplement their family’s food source? Many of these families are forced to choose between paying for utilities, medicine, housing or buying food. These food pantries are vital to their daily nutritional well-being.

The many local pantries and soup kitchens which support Glen Ridge residents, as well as our surrounding towns, such as Bloomfield and Montclair, rely on this additional source of food to complement the physical food drives in which we all participate.

As we begin this traditional season of giving, you can help. Visit www.cfbnj.org/grfd to make a donation or go on a virtual food drive. It’s a great opportunity to involve your children and grandchildren in the giving spirit by shopping for specific food items on the FoodBank website, with the added benefit that buying in bulk allows them to purchase $10 of food for every $1 donated.
Won’t you take a moment to make a tax deductible contribution?
