Irvington lights it up for the holidays in Civic Square

IRVINGTON — The township held its annual Holiday Lighting Spectacular in Civic Square in front of town hall on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

The event included singing by the choirs from the Berkeley Terrace Elementary School and the Madison Avenue School. There were characters including the Grinch, Princess Frostine, JIB and Mr. Mint. Santa and Mrs. Claus made an appearance with an assist from the township fire department, which brought the jolly old couple in on a fire truck decorated for the occasion.

Mayor Tony Vauss and his wife, Superintendent of Schools April Vauss, both spoke to the crowd. There was a toy giveaway and the opportunity to use a portable ice skating rink and bounce houses. Plenty of food was available including donuts, pizza, sandwiches, cotton candy and popcorn. Irvington Police Department officers pitched in, manning food and amusement stations.
