WEST ORANGE, NJ — The Mountain Top League was awarded a $1,000 grant on Oct. 13 by Wells Fargo Foundation to support the organization’s mission of providing recreational programs for children of all levels in baseball, softball, basketball, soccer and hockey.
The Mountain Top League is a volunteer organization that has served the children of West Orange since it was founded in 1959. It remains the largest youth organization in West Orange.
“We truly appreciate Wells Fargo’s support and partnership,” MTL President Peter Scalora said in a press release. “We will use this grant to purchase new equipment for our young athletes and make sure we have state-of-the-art training materials for all our volunteers.”
The grant was awarded as part of Wells Fargo’s Community Connections program, which provides local branch managers the opportunity to make a $1,000 charitable contribution on behalf of Wells Fargo to a nonprofit of their choice.
“We host this annual breakfast to celebrate, recognize and say thank you to community heroes such as Mountain Top League for all of their invaluable contributions and dedicated service to empower northern New Jersey neighborhoods over the past year,” Fred Bertoldo, Wells Fargo’s Northern New Jersey region president, said in the release. “Each nonprofit grant recipient was identified by our local branches. They see which nonprofits are out in the community making a difference in the areas where many team members and customers are proud to live and work.
“Many of our Wells Fargo team members also volunteer or are impacted by Mountain Top League in some way,” he continued. “We’re proud to help the nonprofits serve our communities wherever we can.”
