Nine arrested in operation Get In, Get Out; nearly half-a-million in cash seized

NEWARK, NJ — Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today that nine individuals were arrested and nearly a half a million in cash, along guns, cars, heroin and cocaine, were seized during a pre-dawn raid on Thursday, April 7, involving numerous law enforcement agencies.

In addition to cash, guns and drugs, four cars were recovered – a 2016 Mercedes GLC300, a 2014 Corvette, a 2012 Jeep Cherokee, a 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo and a 2006 Chevrolet Impala.

The raids were the result of a narcotics investigation by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force, which includes police officers from Newark, Bloomfield, and Belleville, along with Essex County Prosecutor’s Office detectives. The Essex County Sheriff’s Office, New Jersey State Police, Union County Prosecutor’s Office and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office also participated in the investigation and raids.

The investigation, dubbed Operation Get In, Get Out, began in 2015, due to an increase in narcotics activities in targeted areas within Newark.

Chief of Detectives Quovella Spruill of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, said, “I would like to thank the Narcotics Task Force members and our law enforcement partners for the outstanding work during this operation.’’

Yesterday, nine individuals were arrested. Five remain at large. Approximately $500,000 in U.S. currency, several illegal handguns, approximately 24 grams of heroin with a street value of  approximately $4,800 and approximately 50 grams of cocaine which have a street value of $2,500 were seized.

The following individuals are in custody:

Al Tariq Brown, 29, of Bayonne who was charged with money laundering;

Nadine Jones, 50, of Newark who was arrested on an outstanding warrant;

Mansur Islam, 23, of Newark who was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession within 1,000 feet of a school, possession within 500 feet of a public building, possession of a 9 mm Cobra and possession of a weapon while committing a drug offense;

Adrian Goods, 22, of Newark was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of heroin within 1,000 feet of a school zone, possession of heroin within 500 feet of public property, unlawful possession of a handgun, a machine gun, a high-capacity magazine and unlawful possession of a weapon while committing narcotics offenses;

Dwayne Starks, 21, of Newark was arrested and charged with distribution of heroin to an undercover officer, distribution within a 1,000 feet of a school, distribution within 500 feet of public property, possession of cocaine, heroin and marijuana, possession of a handgun and possession of a weapon while committing a narcotic offense;

Victor Roberts, 21, of Newark was charged with distribution of heroin to an undercover officer, distribution within 1,000 feet of a school and distribution within 500 feet of public housing;

Sharee Goods, 44, of Newark has been charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin within intent to distribute, possession of heroin within 1,000 feet of a school zone, possession of heroin within 500 feet of a public property, unlawful possession of a handgun, a machine gun, a high-capacity magazine and unlawful possession of a weapon while committing narcotics offenses;

Tahaad K. Good, 24, of Newark was charged with the same offenses as Sharee Goods;

Shadee Amos Sr., 5, of Newark was charged with the same offenses as the Goods.

Five suspects remain at large. They have been identified as:

Tajh Pettiford, 25, of Newark who is charged with distribution of heroin to an undercover officer, distribution of heroin within 1,000 feet of a school zone and distribution of heroin within 500 feet of public housing;

Hasean Johnson, 40, of Newark was charged with distribution of heroin to an undercover officer, distribution of heroin within $1,000 feet of a school zone and distribution of heroin within 500 feet of public housing;

Ibraaheem Islam, 28, of Newark is charged with same offenses as Johnson;

Hakeem White, 28, of Newark is charged with the same offenses as Johnson;

Rashan Jackson, 29, of Irvington is also charged with the same offense as Johnson.

Bail ranges from $25,000 to $50,000 for those charged and bail source hearings are required before they can be released.

The investigation is active and ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

These are accusations. All defendants are presumed to be innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
