NJ citizens aged 62 and older eligible for free pass to state parks

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Essex County residents can apply for the Senior Citizen Pass or Disability Pass that allows New Jersey residents aged 62 or older or those with disabilities to have free entrance to state parks and get discounted camping rates.

“The Senior Citizen Pass and Disability Pass provide an excellent opportunity for our valued senior citizens and residents with disabilities to explore and enjoy the natural beauty of our state parks,” Bloomfield Mayor Michael Venezia said. “Bloomfield Township recognizes the importance of outdoor recreation and the positive impact it has on the physical and mental well-being of individuals. By promoting these park pass opportunities, we aim to make these experiences more accessible to eligible members of our community.”

These passes grant free access to the vast number of state parks, forest, and recreation centers New Jersey has to offer; enabling individuals with disabilities and our older populations to explore the diverse landscapes, picturesque trails, and scenic vistas found within the state, fostering inclusivity and ensuring that everyone can enjoy the great outdoors.

The Senior Citizen pass may be obtained at any of NJ state park/forest offices or through the NJ Department of Environmental Protection Trenton Office. Disability Passes may only be obtained at the Trenton office location.
