Peanut soccer is starting on June 8

NUTLEY, NJ — The Department of Parks and Recreation will be offering Peanut Soccer once again this summer. This program allows working parents the opportunity for some recreation fun with their children. Peanut Soccer is open to Nutley toddlers ages 3 through 5 and is directed by the Rec Department’s in-house, professional coaching staff.

There are benefits to be derived from introducing children to sports at the toddler level.
“Some benefits include helping build confidence, improving social and listening skills and promoting fitness from a young age,” said Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci.

Peanut Soccer is an enjoyable non-competitive program designed to help the youngest of soccer players begin to develop basic soccer skills by participating in fun-filled, soccer-oriented children’s games and basic physical education.

Peanut Soccer will begin June 8. Two sessions are available to accommodate Nutley residents, at 5 and 6 p.m. The program will be held at Glotzbach Field and will run for four weeks. Members of the teaching staff understand how children learn and how soccer can be taught effectively. A per-child fee will be charged for the program. Online registration is available at https://register.communitypass.net/nutley. For more information on this or any recreation program, contact the Recreation Department at 973-284-4966.
