MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Gathered by SOMA Action, residents from the two towns gathered at the Maplewood Train Station on Monday, Aug. 5, to demand gun law reform and to commemorate the lives lost in recent gun violence, specifically in the mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio.
The El Paso shooting, which occurred Aug. 3 in a Wal-Mart, left 22 dead and 24 injured. The Dayton shooting, which occurred on Aug. 4 just 13 hours after the El Paso shooting, left 10 dead and 27 injured.
SOMA Action, Maplewood and South Orange officials expressed the need to continue fighting for gun law reform.
