WEST ORANGE, NJ — Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and West Orange Police Chief James Abbott announced March 24 that three men have been arrested and charged with the murder of Naji Everett, 26, of Orange.
On Dec. 17, 2015, Everett was shot in the 100 block of Joyce Street in West Orange, across the street from the Orange border.
Zaki Jones, 33, of Newark; Jarret Mceachin, 29, of Orange; and Rasuan Foster, 29, of East Orange have all been arrested and charged with murder, conspiracy, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Foster and Mceachin are being held on $750,000.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
“The tireless efforts of West Orange Police Detective Ed Diaz and the Essex County Homicide Task force led to these arrests,” Abbott said in a township release.
These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
