Veterans’ pancake breakfast, parade next week

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — The Bloomfield Joint Memorial Committee will be hosting its annual Veterans Day breakfast on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 9 a.m. The all-you-can-eat breakfast will be held at the Newark-Bloomfield Lodge No. 21, located at 296 Bloomfield Ave. in Bloomfield. A donation is requested.

The committee has been hosting this breakfast for more than 25 years and, unfortunately, the attendance keeps getting less and less each year. This celebration is to honor all veterans who served our country in peace and in time of war.

Why not honor a member of your family by coming out and honoring those who made our country the way of life we cherish. For ticket information, contact Committee Chairman Joseph Ellmer at 973-338-4256. He is waiting to hear from you. We have to know approximately how many people are coming, so please call.

On Friday, Nov. 11, there will be a Veterans Day Parade from Town Hall up Franklin Avenue to the Veterans Monument at Liberty Street, leaving Town Hall about 10:30 a.m. and marching to the monument for a brief ceremony. Following the ceremony, “Taps” will be played to honor all veterans who have died.

The Bloomfield Joint Memorial Committee and all veterans are hoping to see every patriotic and freedom-loving American join them at both of these celebrations.
