WEST ORANGE, NJ — Each year, members of the West Orange Rotary Club give dictionaries to all third-grade students in the West Orange public schools as part of the club’s community outreach. Rotary volunteers recently stopped by Hazel Elementary School to distribute the dictionaries to the enthusiastic students.
“The students are always excited to receive the dictionaries and learn interesting facts in the reference section during the presentation,” Rotary Vice President Cynthia Hadley-Bailey said in a press release.
“The excitement in the children’s eyes and smiles are why we volunteer to visit each class and explain the benefits of the dictionary and reference pages,” Rotary volunteer Gladys Harris said in the release.
The Rotary Club of West Orange raises funds to purchase dictionaries for all third-grade students and offer scholarships to graduating seniors each year in addition to supporting community and international outreaches. To learn more about the West Orange Rotary, visit www.westorangerotary.org.
