WO baseball team honored for excellence, sportsmanship

WEST ORANGE, NJ — The West Orange Police Athletic League 12U Travel Baseball Team received a commendation at the Sept. 6 Township Council meeting. Some of the team’s myriad accomplishments include winning the New Providence 12-year division in summer 2016; being the runner-up in the Montville league in spring 2016; playing a doubleheader against Verona at Cooperstown’s Doubleday Field in July, becoming the first West Orange team to play in Cooperstown; volunteering with the PAL to help with special needs children, mentors and coaches, and younger travel teams; assisting the West Orange Elks in replacing flags on veterans’ graves on Memorial Day; and being recognized by the New Providence and Montville leagues for being one of the most respectful and professional teams in their leagues.
