WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange High School seniors E.J. (Erik) Akerblom and Meghan White have been named as Essex County Athletic Director’s Association Scholar Athletes.
White is co-captain of the girls’ softball team. Her grade-point average is 4.6261 and she is in the top 5 percent of her class at WOHS. She is secretary of the Math Honors Society, and a member of the National Honor Society and the Science National Honor Society. She is a member of the Science League and Sports Medicine Club and is also a Mountaineer Mentor.
White will be attending Saint Francis University and plans to become a physician assistant.
Akerblom is co-captain of the lacrosse team. His GPA is 4.47 and he is also in the top 5 percent of his class. He is the treasurer of the Future Business Leaders of America Club and a member of the National Honor Society. He is a Mountaineer Mentor and volunteers at Kessler Rehabilitation Center in West Orange.
Akerblom will be attending the University of Alabama and plans to become a certified public accountant.
Both athletes will be honored at the annual Essex County Athletic Director’s Association Scholar Athletes Awards Dinner on May 9 at Mayfair Farms.

We know that both Meghan and E.J. will go on to do great things in their communities and in the world.”
