WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange High School seniors in all fall sports, the marching band and color guard were recognized with their families during the Nov. 5 home game against East Orange.

Senior Night provided the opportunity for the high school and Board of Education to recognize students and families for their hard work, sacrifice and commitment to excellence in athletics and music. On hand to greet the seniors and their families were Superintendent Jeff Rutzky, BOE President Laura Lab, BOE Vice President Mark Robertson, and board members Sandra Mordecai and Ron Charles. West Orange High School Principal Hayden Moore joined the board to offer thanks and congratulations.

Seniors in the following sports were recognized: football, cross country, boys’ soccer, girls’ soccer, girls’ volleyball and cheerleading. In addition, the state champion Marching Mountaineers and Color Guard were honored.

The game itself provided a co-conference championship for the football team, who ended regular season play with a 6-1 record.

“We are proud of all our Mountaineers and their commitment to excellence,” Moore said. “We know how much time and effort goes in to perform well not only athletically and musically, but academically, and our seniors represent West Orange with honor and pride. Thank you to our families who made that commitment along with their children.”
