Animal center is collecting shoes to help raise funds

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — The Bloomfield Animal Shelter is conducting a shoe-collection drive through May 15. The shelter is partnering with WoofTrax and Funds2Orgs in this effort.

Based on the number of pairs of shoes collected, the shelter can earn $1,000 or more, as Funds2Orgs will then purchase all donated goods.

These dollars will benefit the animals at the shelter and will be used for their medical care and other needs.
Anyone can help by bringing their donations of gently worn, used or new shoes to the shelter, located at 61 Bukowski Place, Bloomfield.

All donated shoes will then be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of microenterprise partners in developing nations. Funds2Orgs helps impoverished people start, maintain and grow businesses in countries such as Haiti, Honduras and other nations in Central America and Africa. Proceeds from the shoe sales are used to feed, clothe and house their families. One budding entrepreneur in Haiti even earned enough to send to her son to law school.

Shelter officials state that “by donating shoes to the Bloomfield Animal Shelter shoe drive, the shoes will be given a second chance and make a difference in people’s lives, while simultaneously benefiting the animals in the township’s care.”

Call the shelter at 973-748-0194 or email AdoptatBAS@yahoo.com if you have any questions about the shoe drive. For more information about the overall program, visit funds2orgs.com/WoofTrax.
