Arraignment made after Bloomfield drug arrest

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A Jersey City suspect was arraigned Dec. 16 on multiple drug charges following his arrest Dec. 15 by Essex County Sheriff’s detectives and Bloomfield police.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that as part of a series of ongoing drug investigations in Bloomfield, a task force of detectives from his department’s Bureau of Narcotics and the Bloomfield Police Department conducted a plainclothes surveillance operation Tuesday afternoon in the vicinity of 270 Bloomfield Ave.

At 2:50 p.m., Mark “Sky” Skladany, 24, of Jersey City, arrived on the scene in a 2000 Mazda pickup truck.
“The suspect parked his vehicle in the rear lot of the apartment complex,” Fontoura said. “He exited the pickup truck then
loitered in the area as if he were waiting for someone. When our officers noticed a large bulge in left front pocket of his
cargo pants they moved in to further investigate.”

Skladany was found to be in possession of what officers believed were 531 heroin-filled glassine envelopes, stamped “LOBSTER KING” in red ink, and placed under arrest.

Skladany was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a CDS with intent to distribute, possession of a CDS with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of the Berkeley School and possession of a CDS with intent to distribute within 500 feet of Berkeley Heights Park.

The suspect was also found to be under supervised release from the New Jersey State Parole Board.
At today’s arraignment. Skladany was ordered held at the county jail in lieu of $200,000 cash bond only.
