Christ Episcopal Church to unveil new nursery school classrooms in Oct. 4 ceremony

Christ Episcopal Church in Bloomfield and Glen Ridge will be officially opening and dedicating  its newly renovated nursery school classrooms and church space  during an open house on Tuesday, Oct. 4, starting at 6:30 p.m. Cutting the ribbons to the new spaces will be Bloomfield Mayor Michael Venezia.  Blessing them will be The Right Rev. Mark Beckwith, bishop of the Diocese of Newark.

This project began with initial planning in early 2014, and cost $350,000 to complete.  As a result, the church expanded and improved the nursery school, adding new classrooms and renovating older spaces, allowing the church to offer more local children affordable child-care in a safe, nurturing, and Christian setting.   Also included in the project were relocating and renovating church offices, adding two small group-meeting spaces, and a lift for handicap access to church offices to match that of worship spaces, part of the church’s commitment to accessibility for all.

The Nursery School of Christ Church is a ministry of the church that was started in 1967. It is a New Jersey licensed, full-day pre-school and child-care program for infants from 6 weeks to 6 years.  The school offers a rich language-based curriculum that provides superior child-care while incorporating social, verbal, and listening skills, and is within walking distance of the Glen Ridge train station.  While in the past, all the classes had waiting lists, as a result of this new renovation, there is now additional availability.

The church is located at 74 Park Ave. in Glen Ridge. For information call  973-743-5911.
