Bloomfield Police Department will be undergoing an evaluation by assessors from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, a professional membership organization. The evaluation is on-site and should take several days, beginning Sunday, July 24. Its purpose is to examine all aspects of the BPD, which has applied for accreditation by the association. BPD Director Sam DeMaio calls the accreditation “a highly-prized recognition of law enforcement excellence.”
The public is invited to participate in the evaluation by calling in their comments about the BPD. Calls will be taken Monday, July 25, between 9 and 11 a.m. The telephone number is 973-680-4095. Calls are limited to five minutes and must address the ability of the Bloomfield police to comply with NJSACOP standards. A copy of the standards is available for inspection at police headquarters or by going to the NJSACOP website. The accreditation manager, Anthony DeZenzo, may be reached at 973-680-4100.
Anyone wishing to offer written comments about the ability of the Bloomfield police to comply with the standards may write to: NJSACOP, 751 Route 73 North, Suite 12, Marlton, NJ 08053.
