UPDATE: The eastbound lane of South Orange Avenue between Cherry Lane/Brookside Drive and Wyoming Avenue will also be closed Tuesday, Dec. 15, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in advance of the expected rain later this week.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — The eastbound lanes of South Orange Avenue between Cherry Lane/Brookside Drive and Wyoming Avenue will be closed again to vehicular traffic for three additional days on Wednesday, Dec 16; Thursday, Dec. 17; and Friday, Dec. 18, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. so roadway paving can be completed. Eastbound traffic will be detoured to Northfield Avenue. This is part of the ongoing $30 million federally-funded project to flatten the curves in the road, enhance motor vehicle safety and improve storm drainage.

During the road closure, motor vehicles traveling eastbound on South Orange Avenue will be detoured north on Cherry Lane to east on Northfield Avenue to south on Wyoming Avenue before returning to South Orange Avenue. The westbound lanes of South Orange Avenue will remain open and there will be no detour.
