JCS observes fall holidays

MONTCLAIR, NJ — The Jewish Cultural Society, which serves northern New Jersey, will observe Rosh Hashanah on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. and Yom Kippur on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 8 p.m. in rented space in the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 67 Church St. in Montclair.

Both erev hour-long programs of secular humanistic readings and songs and the rituals of blowing the shofar and lighting candles will be led by Bennett Muraskin. The Rosh Hashanah celebration will be followed by a potluck dessert session.

Children are welcome if they can sit quietly with their parents. There is a suggested donation for each observance, to defray costs of rentals. For more information, visit www.jcss-nj.org or call 973-734-1972.
