ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo Jr. accepted an award from Essex County Special Olympics Director Frank Petrucci on behalf of the Essex County Special Olympics Committee.
The award recognizes the county executive for his “many years of support and encouragement for Essex County Special Olympic athletes.” Essex County has hosted the Essex County Summer Olympics Track and Field events in Brookdale Park since 2004.
With DiVincenzo and Petrucci were NJ Special Olympics Director of Program Development William DePonte, NJ Special Olympics Chief Program Development Officer Carmen Bannon, Terry Nevins from the Essex County Special Olympics Committee and NJ Special Olympics Senior Director of Operations Brian Wertz.
