NEWARK, NJ — The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office will host its spring 2018 Citizens and Clergy Academy, a six-week training program for members of the community on Thursday evenings, starting May 17 and running through June 21. The classes begin at 6 p.m. and end at 8 p.m.
The Citizens and Clergy Academy is a training program designed to familiarize clergy and other members of the community with the day-to-day operations of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
“The purpose of the Citizens and Clergy Academy, an event held twice a year, is to help members of the community better understand the work of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office,” acting Prosecutor Robert Laurino said. “As part of the academy we explain what we do, the services available to witnesses and victims, and how the legal process works. In doing so, we hope the clergy and other community leaders will better understand the role of the county prosecutor.”
Classes, which are open to anyone 18 years or older, will be held at the ECPO on the third floor of 50 West Market St. in Newark. A certificate will be awarded to each participant who successfully completes the course at the graduation ceremony.
Registration is required; the deadline is May 10. For information, contact Kimberly Jones at 973-621-1315.
