ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Impact100 Essex is now accepting applications for its new equity grants. The organization is funding three $15,000 unrestricted grants available to nonprofit organizations led by black, indigenous and other people of color in Essex County.
“These grants are a response to the call for action for greater equity in the field of grant making, as studies are pointing to the fact that BIPOC-led nonprofits have been historically excluded from funding,” said Mayuri Chandra, Impact100 Essex member and co-chairperson of its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.
Committee member Tyneisha Gibbs added, “It is important to Impact100 Essex to be intentional about providing unrestricted funding opportunities. This is our commitment to smaller, community-based organizations.”
Interested nonprofits should visit the Impact100 Essex website at www.impact100essex.org/dei for eligibility criteria and the link to the application form. Applications are due Dec. 5 and funding decisions will be made in January 2022. The equity grants are in addition to the organization’s 2021 $100,000 Impact Grant and nonprofits may apply for both grants.
Impact100 Essex is a collective philanthropic group founded and funded by women in Essex County. Each year, Impact100 Essex awards a minimum grant of $100,000 to support an important, innovative project managed by a local nonprofit organization.
