EAST ORANGE, NJ — The Essex County Freeholder Housing & Community Development Oversight Committee is partnering with several municipal libraries to co-host a program for Stabilizing Urban Neighborhoods representatives to present the SUN Initiative, a program that helps homeowners in foreclosure repurchase their homes with mortgages they can afford.

The representatives will be at the East Orange Public Library, 21 South Arlington Ave., today, Aug. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. RSVP to ddavisford@freeholders.essexcountynj.org.

SUN is a program of Boston Community Capital, www.bostoncommunitycapital.org, a nonprofit organization with a 30-year track record of financing affordable housing, child care facilities, schools, community health centers and community programs.  SUN’s funding comes from individual investors and foundations, the U.S. Department of Treasury’s CDFI Fund and East Boston Savings Bank. SUN is an Equal Housing Opportunity program.  Since its launch in 2009, SUN has invested nearly $100 million to prevent the foreclosure or eviction of more than 600 families.
