GLEN RIDGE, NJ — The Literature Department of the Women’s Club of Glen Ridge has announced that Elisabeth Egan, author of “A Window Opens,” will be the guest speaker on Tuesday, March 1. Egan is the books editor at Glamour. Her essays and book reviews have appeared in Self, Glamour, O, People, Publishers Weekly, Kirkus, Huffington Post, The New York Times Book Review, LA Times Book Review, The Washington Post, Chicago Sun-Times, and the Newark Star-Ledger.
Egan lives in Montclair with her husband and three children.
“A Window Opens” chronicles the busy life of Alice Pearse, a working mother of three children whose work-family balance is challenged when she takes a job at a hip, young start-up that promises to be the future of reading. The Holy Grail of working mothers — an intellectually satisfying job and a happy personal life — seems suddenly within reach. But is it?
Admission for guests. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. to allow time for light refreshments; Egan will speak at 8 p.m.
To add to the evening’s fun, raffle tickets will be sold. The winner will receive a box of not-yet-released galley copies of some new titles for 2016 along with a signed author’s copy of “A Window Opens.”
