GLEN RIDGE, NJ – The fifth-seeded Glen Ridge High School girls’ varsity basketball team pulled out a gritty 61-59 overtime win over 12th-seeded Ridgefield in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 state tournament on Feb. 28 at GRHS.
The game was tied 52-52 at the end of regulation. GRHS outscored Ridgefield, 9-7, in overtime.
Leslie Jaiyesimi had 13 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals; Juliann Lisovicz had 12 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals; Claire McMahon had 11 points and seven rebounds; Galen Lew had seven points and 10 rebounds; Meghan Marhan had nine points and six rebounds and Gabby Kinzler had seven points for the Ridgers, who improved to an 18-8 record and will visit fourth-seeded Hoboken in the quarterfinals on March 2. The winner will face the winner between top-seeded Secaucus and No. 8 seed Arts in the semifinals on Saturday, March 4. The final is March 7.
