GLEN RIDGE, NJ — Glen Ridge Mayor Stuart K. Patrick and the Glen Ridge Borough Council released the following statement condemning bigotry and supporting those who face it on April 23:
“We send this message in solidarity and support of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. We condemn the racism, xenophobia and intolerance targeting individual members of this community, their families and businesses. We came together last spring in support of Black Lives Matter and vowed to work together in support of racial, social and moral justice for all. The historically dramatic increase in racially motivated hate crimes and violent assaults against members of the AAPI community demonstrates that the work to combat racism in all its forms continues. No individual or group should be subjected to hate crimes or harassment or fear random acts of physical assault.
“As a council, we stand together to reject hate-filled rhetoric and actions. All of us together must strive to create a kinder, more inclusive community.”
