GLEN RIDGE, NJ — The borough of Glen Ridge, in partnership with Essex County, has launched the Senior Citizen Vaccination Transportation Program, which will register and transport senior residents to receive two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Currently, this program is only for Glen Ridge senior citizens age 60 or older who cannot drive.
For this program, seniors do not have to sign up on the state or county’s COVID-19 websites. Seniors wishing to register for the program will register through the Glen Ridge Recreation Department by calling the Seniors Vaccination Transportation Hotline at 201-618-6767 between 10 a.m. and noon on Mondays and Tuesdays. No messages should be left on the hotline number. Residents should call back if they don’t get through. Individuals must be ready to provide insurance company name, plan, policy number and group number.
This program will operate on the following dates: Thursdays, April 29 and May 27, with a registration deadline of Tuesday, April 27; and Thursdays, May 6 and June 3, with a registration deadline of Tuesday, May 4. There are eight slots available for each date. More dates may be added and announced later.
Participants will be picked up at home by the town jitney at approximately 9:30 a.m. on the date for which they are registered. A borough liaison will accompany the seniors to and from the vaccine site, which is the Stephen N. Adubato Sports Complex in Branch Brook Park, Newark.
