GR Kiwanis plans an October Feast benefit

GLEN RIDGE, NJ — The Glen Ridge Kiwanis Club has announced October Feast, a food, beer and wine tasting event to be held at the Glen Ridge Women’s Club on Monday, Oct. 24, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Food tastings will be provided by 20 nearby restaurants. A beer tasting will be hosted by the “Glen Ridge Home Brewers Association.” The wine tasting will be hosted by a local wine and spirits shop. A tricky tray is also planned.

Organizers anticipate 250 to 300 persons in attendance.

Proceeds from the event will support:
• The Eliminate Project, an international Kiwanis effort to address maternal and neo-natal tetanus in developing countries that kills both mother and baby. Kiwanis plans to raise $110 million over five-years and, in conjunction with UNICEF, provide nearly 400 million vaccine doses.

• Our local Kiwanis Club’s Scholarship Program that awards scholarships to graduating seniors at Glen Ridge High School based largely on their community service.

• Music Therapy for Children with Autism. The local Kiwanis are initiating a multi-year program to help support the emotional, social and cognitive health in autistic children.

Kiwanis International is a global organization of volunteer men and women dedicated to “changing the world one child and one community at a time.”

The Glen Ridge Kiwanis Club was chartered in 1959 and is dedicated to helping children and providing community service.
