Kiwanis Club of Glen Ridge seeks support

GLEN RIDGE, NJ — The Kiwanis Club of Glen Ridge, which has been in service for 60 years and has helped countless children worldwide, is actively seeking support from the local community. The club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization made up of dedicated volunteers who give freely of their time to make a better world, first in Glen Ridge and by extension the world at large. All of the money raised will be used to benefit youth locally and throughout the world.

In town, Kiwanis runs the Glen Ridge Memorial Day parade and picnic; conducts spring and fall collection drives, in which thousands of pounds of clothing and household goods are donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America; participates bi-annually in the cleanup of Freeman Gardens; and each fall brews coffee for the 3,000 runners in the Ashenfelter 8K Thanksgiving Day Classic.

The Kiwanis Club of Glen Ridge publishes and hand delivers the Glen Ridge town and telephone directory, a 50-year tradition. The club has pledged to donate $12,500 during the next five years to help buy a state-of-the-art, new ambulance to serve Glen Ridge, Montclair and Bloomfield. Kiwanis’ single greatest annual fundraiser is OctoberFeast, but without the revenue we raise during that event, club members worry their charitable efforts will be seriously crippled.
