Toney’s Brook cleanup in Glen Ridge on Oct. 23

GLEN RIDGE, NJ — Glen Ridge families are invited to the Toney’s Brook cleanup event on Saturday, Oct. 23, from 9 a.m. to noon. Participants can meet at Toney’s Brook at the entrance to Glenfield Park at Woodland Avenue and Pierson Place, or at the gazebo near the intersection of Bloomfield and Ridgewood avenues.

This event is part of Clean Ocean Action’s 38th year of semiannual, statewide cleanups of local waterways. Participants will work to clean up the brook and document the types of debris found. This information will be put into a national database to help identify and eliminate the sources of water pollution. Event will be held rain or shine.

Participants should wear garden/yard gloves, and closed, hard-soled shoes. Participants should be careful of sharp objects and respect wildlife. Do not lift anything too heavy. For more information and to pre-register, visit www.cleanoceanaction.org and click on “Beach Sweeps.”

This event is sponsored by Clean Ocean Action, the Glen Ridge Environmental Advisory Committee and Rotary Club of Bloomfield–Glen Ridge.
