Shown with the fun, billowing foam, which they helped create, are Temple B’nai Abraham Early School students Barrett Morgan, left, and Spencer Kahn of West Orange.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Early School of Temple B’nai Abraham fosters an interest in science, technology, engineering, the arts and music through integrating the STEAM program in its curriculum.

Recently the students were delighted as they participated in an exciting science experiment that engaged their senses and introduced the concept of reaction — an exothermic reaction to be exact! Taking a plastic water bottle, dry yeast, hydrogen peroxide handled by the teacher, warm water, liquid washing soap and food coloring, the students created colored foam billowing seemingly endlessly from the top of the water bottle. Safe to touch, the resulting foam is simply water, oxygen, soap and food coloring.
