In search of ancient Israel at TBA

LIV-gary rendsburg-WLIVINGSTON, NJ — Temple B’nai Abraham’s 2016 Bloom Lecture Series will offer “In Search of Ancient Israel” with professor Gary A. Rendsburg, Blanche and Irving Laurie Professor of Jewish History in the Department of Jewish Studies at Rutgers University, on Tuesdays, April 5, 12 and 19, at 7 p.m.

Over three lectures, Rendsburg will review the literary, historical and archeological evidence of such topics as the patriarchs, the exodus from Egypt, settlement in Canaan, and the kingdoms David and Solomon. Along the way we will discuss the intersection of tradition and history; if the Bible’s account is not completely historically accurate, does it matter?

This lecture series is supported by the Bernard and Muriel Bloom Memorial Lecture Fund, and is free and open to the community. You are welcome to attend a single lecture or two — or the entire series! Register online or call 973-994-2290. The temple is located at 300 E Northfield Road, Livingston, entrance on East Cedar Street.
