Local families to be honored by JCC at L’Dor V’Dor Gala

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Marilyn and Lester Bornstein, Flo Peck and family, and Amelia and Cory Perlstein will be the distinguished honorees at JCC MetroWest’s L’Dor V’Dor Gala on Thursday, June 23, at 6:30 p.m. at Crystal Plaza, Livingston. This year, JCC MetroWest is thrilled to be celebrating three generations of leadership.

JCC MetroWest will salute the Bornsteins, Pecks and Perlsteins for touching so many lives through their leadership and dedication to the MetroWest Jewish community and committed service to JCC MetroWest, according to a press release.

The Bornsteins of West Orange have been active in the local Jewish community for many years. Lester Bornstein was a founder of the Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey, which has provided funding for many critical projects at JCC MetroWest and in the greater community. Marilyn Bornstein, a fixture in the JCC’s Lifelong Learning program and denizen of JCC water aerobics classes, is also a published author, having been bitten by the writing bug in a JCC creative writing class.

Flo Peck was the gatekeeper of the JCC for 23 years, serving as executive assistant to four different JCC executive directors. Flo Peck, who will be honored posthumously, was the embodiment of JCC organizational history, had the answer to every question and was the “secret sauce” that streamlined all tasks. The Peck family from Montville has made a leadership gift on Flo Peck’s memory for the new JCC Camp Deeny Riback aquatics center.

Amelia Perlstein of Livingston, a young leader and JCC board member, and husband Cory Perlstein, have already distinguished themselves as members of the next generation of JCC superstars. Amelia Perlstein, a graduate of the Jewish Federation’s Arthur Borinsky Young Leadership Development Program, serves on the executive committee of the JCC board of trustees and has worked tirelessly, guiding many key JCC committees.

L’Dor V’Dor, the passing of leadership from one generation to the next, will be celebrated in the context of the JCC’s role in every stage of life from early childhood through senior adulthood. Tickets for the Gala are charged. Kosher dietary laws will be observed.
