LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Temple B’nai Abraham Congregational Learning program will present a monthly “Lunch & Learn” with Rabbi Faith Joy Dantowitz. This year’s series explores two topics: in September, preparing for the High Holy Days and, from October through May, examining current events through a Jewish lens.
Classes begin Thursday, Sept. 15, at 11:30 a.m. with “Preparing our Hearts for the Holy Days.” Brisket made and in the freezer? Check. High Holy Day tickets ordered? Check. Guests invited for the holiday meal? Check. Take the time to prepare your heart for the holidays. The period of days leading up to Rosh Hashanah is a time to begin the process of teshuva — repentance or returning to our best selves. Gift yourself this hour to engage in this process.
Then continuing on Thursdays, Nov. 17, Dec. 15, Jan. 12, Feb. 16, March 16, April 20 and May 18, at 11:30 a.m., the group will explore today’s issues seen through a Jewish lens. Judaism’s teachings from the past and present offer insight on current topics. Come and explore each month as the group learns about matters ranging from organ donation to gender issues to how we treat others and more.
Come to Lunch & Learn and bring your dairy lunch; beverages will be provided. This class is free and open to the community. To register call 973-994-2290 or visit the website at http://www.tbanj.org/congregational-learning/lunch-learn.
