NCJW discusses the dangers of social media

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Did you know that preteens and teens use social media in ways that differ from adults? Licensed psychologist Karen Smarz, director of the Family Life Education Center at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, will present a workshop for women on Thursday, Oct. 20, from 12:30 to

2 p.m. explaining the dangers and risks involved with the latest social media apps that are being used by children today. Kik, Tinder, Snapchat and Whisper will be discussed, as well as strategies for talking to teens.

Registration is required and the program is open to all women in the community.
