Open house for YMCA’s early learning center

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Parents of infants through preschoolers are invited to an open house on Saturday, July 28, at the West Essex YMCA’s Peanut Shell Early Learning Center, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The state-licensed Peanut Shell is the only childcare center in Livingston accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. It provides full- and part-time childcare for families in Livingston, West Orange, Roseland, the Caldwells and surrounding communities.

At the open house, children can burn up energy with the Travelin’ Tumblers and make granola cups to take home while parents tour the facility, learn about the curriculum, and meet Director Stephanie Anderson and teachers. The event includes free giveaways and other projects.

The Peanut Shell serves children as young as 6 weeks old and up to age 5 in a nurturing environment with lower-than-required child-to-teacher ratios. Open year-round from 7 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, the Peanut Shell is located at 706 Regent Street, Building No. 7 in the Regent Suite Office Park off Route 10 in Livingston.

Activities include swim lessons, gym classes, music enrichment, field trips, family events and special events, and projects that incorporate language arts and science. Visit http://www.metroymcas.org/west-essex-ymca/ymca-peanut-shell-naeyc-accredited/ or call 973-533-1511 for more information.
