Recognizing the warning signs of eating disorders

LIVINGSTON, NJ — With the pressure in today’s society on appearances and dieting, the Linda and Rudy Slucker NCJW/Essex Center for Women is presenting a workshop on the “Warning Signs of Eating Disorders in Pre-Teens and Teens” on Tuesday, Nov. 1, from 7:15 to 9 p.m.

Do you know what is considered normal teenage concern with body shape and appearance, and what might be signs of a potential eating disorder? Licensed clinical social worker Danna Markson, founder and director of the Mindsoother Therapy Center in Livingston, will explore this important topic and discuss how to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy eating, as well as how you can start a dialog with your children about body image and the dos and don’ts of parental involvement.

Registration is required and programs are open to all women in the community. To register or for additional information about this or other programs, call the NCJW/Essex Center for Women at 973-994-4994 or visit www.centerforwomenNJ.org. Workshops are free for members of NCJW and charged for non-members.
