MAPLEWOOD, NJ — A Burns Night dinner and dance fundraiser to benefit the Achieve Foundation will be held at the Woodland, 60 Woodland Road in Maplewood, on Saturday, Feb. 6, from 7 to 11 p.m. Burns Night is an annual Scottish tradition, celebrating the life of poet Robert Burns. It is usually held on or around the anniversary of his birthday, Jan. 25. Typical Burns Nights include food — such as haggis, neeps and tatties, whiskey, reading his poetry and other recitals, and traditional Scottish dancing or “ceilidh.”
Guests will enjoy a champagne reception, followed by a three-course meal and open bar. There will be a live ceilidh band and a “caller” who will lead everyone in the dancing. Male guests are encouraged to wear kilts. Tickets can be purchased at www.maplewoodburnsnight.eventbrite.com.
