Installation of footings to begin today at former post office site

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The site excavation for the 160 Maplewood Ave. site is substantially completed, and installation of the footings will begin today, July 18, according to a release from the township. The footings will consist of poured concrete supports around the perimeter of the building and within what will be the building’s footprint. Construction of the foundation wall will immediately follow. This work is expected to take no longer than five weeks.

Please continue to avoid walking along the construction fencing, either on the sidewalk portion or the street. For safety, use the crosswalk at Inwood Place.

Avoid walking, jogging, running, biking, scooting, roller-blading and skateboarding between Maplewood Avenue and the NJ Transit tunnel by going through the Village Coffee parking lot, unless you’re going to a car within that lot. There is a covered pedestrian walkway between Maplewood Avenue and the tunnel specifically constructed for the purpose of safe passage.
