MAPLEWOOD, NJ — More than 50 people of all ages filled the Woodland for Mike Summersgill’s campaign kickoff rally, which included karaoke, face painting and an ice cream truck. Summersgill joined local children on stage and tried to keep up with Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” — a potential campaign mantra for a Republican running for Township Committee in a heavily Democratic town.
“The campaign kickoff rally gave me a chance to reintroduce myself as an operational leader with the experience required to make an impact. I would bring an independent voice to the Township Committee and support a full discussion on issues,” Summersgill said in a press release. “I’m running for Maplewood Township Committee because community only works when we all contribute.”
