MONTCLAIR, NJ — What better way to learn about your local history than through a historic walking tour? Join the Montclair Historical Society on Saturday, Sept. 24, for a stroll from the Van Vleck House at 21 Van Vleck St. to the Crane House and Historic YWCA at 108 Orange Road and discover the rich history behind the spectacular homes along South Mountain Avenue.
The walking tour, co-sponsored by the Montclair Historical Society and Van Vleck House and Gardens, is part of the Van Vleck House and Garden’s centennial celebration, which kicks off this month.
The tour will stop in the Shultz House, 30 North Mountain Ave., to tour this remarkable house that takes you back to early 20th century. The tour will be led by Mike Farrelly, town historian. The tour will start at 10 a.m. at 21 Van Vleck St. in Montclair. There is a suggested donation. In the event of rain, call 973-744-1796 on the day of the tour to make sure the tour will go on.
